The range of standard brush holders are very adaptable and lend themselves to both fast and slow moving applications.
Standard construction is brass with copper foil or braid connections (although variations can be requested). Double spring versions and brushes are available where specified.
The range varies from simple calipers and cartridges to advanced fixed box holders with constant force springs and 22KV collectors.

SINGLE LEG BRUSH HOLDER
Designed for use with both fast moving slip rings i.e. Alternators and slip ring motors, and slow moving high current density applications such as cable reeling drums and leisure rides.
Single Leg brush holders are therefore very adaptable and lend themselves to many varied applications. Current ratings are available upon request.
DOUBLE LEG BRUSH HOLDER
Designed for use with both fast moving slip rings i.e. Alternators and slip ring motors, and slow moving high current density applications such as cable reeling drums and leisure rides.

PARATEC BRUSH HOLDER
Parallel action brush systems provide high contact integrity and system stability for both signal and power applications. The non-metallic body ensures suitability for operation in corrosive environments (such as marine) whilst captive screws improve serviceability.
We now fit this product as standard for specific applications to eliminate the problem of fretting corrosion which can occur with conventional metallic brush holders.
CUSTOM / SPECIAL BRUSH HOLDER
GOS work closely with global customers to develop more efficient, cost effective brush holder solutions.
Benefits include longer brush life, reduction in service time, improved cooling and minimal brush contact face area by using the optimum brush compound.

LIGHTNING PROTECTION
GOS Lightning Brush holders are robust units that are designed to dissipate lightning energy and thus defend critical components (typically main shaft and yaw bearings).
The 120 amp brush holders, when used as part of a total lightning and surge protection system, play a very important role in the protection of buildings, structures and equipment against direct lightning strikes.
Arc propagation brackets are also available to act as backup for overload conditions.
A low impedance path is created through the rotational interface (hub to nacelle) from the lightning protection conductor to the ground, therefore protecting the main bearing
EARTH CARTRIDGE
GOS offer earthing brushes and holders for a range of applications, we can accommodate any size of brush and holder to specifically suit the needs of the customer.
Common issues with earthing brushes relate to ghosting, marking or burning to the slip ring, primarily down to the brushes not being under continued load to build an effective patina. In the worst cases we see grooving appear into the earth ring. This damages the slip ring and in turn increases brush wear. In wind applications the issues can result in the earthing brushes working to a fraction of their expectancy, high voltage spikes caused by back feeds in the grid can then be discharged across bearings, resulting in damage.
GOS grade combats this by giving an excellent uniform patina across the ring, resulting in no burning, marking or ghosting. GOS’s grade works extremely well in a range of atmospheric conditions where wind turbines are commonly exposed to. Because our grade offers much improved brush wear and slip ring wear results, this significantly reduces operation and maintenance costs. In turn main shaft bearings are protected and their life is optimized.
